A documentary to help save the spirit of the American West.

Women in the Wilderness is a project intended to educate the public about the crisis of wild mustangs on America’s public lands. We are a group of three women who planned and executed a 26-day pack trip on mustangs through wild horse country, while filming the adventure.

We leased 9 mustangs to display the strength and versatility of these horses. Learn about the horses here.

The Ride

We started our ride in October 2021 and rode for 26 days from Lander to Encampment, Wyoming. We rode through Herd Management Areas (land where wild horses roam), primarily in the Red Desert.
